The price of uniqueness in a conformist world
Sometimes, if you're not careful, being unique can be the cause of most of your adversities in life. In environments where people don't embrace diversity, being unique can be seen as a disability. This often leads people to compromise on what's considered "normal" or "popular" for the sake of political correctness.
However, contrary to that, people can also be doing that which is wrong, unethical, or in pursuit of wrong philosophies in the name of being unique. This can only be distinguished when we create an environment that has a balance between the understanding of what's acceptable and what's not. An environment where people can agree to disagree for the right reasons. Even though they say that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, sometimes not all opinions matter.
The fact remains that as humans, we all crave for change that comes with a price that most aren't aware of or willing to pay for. Oftentimes people might end up in the pursuit of birthing change to places that do not need change or changing things with the wrong methods. This is like curing a disease that was not existing thereby creating a disease in the name of change or changing the environment of people before changing their mindset. People will always go for what makes sense to them be it right or wrong without considering the outcome and the price to pay for change. Also, change can be opposed by people when what's proposed is going against their knowledge.
When we are misplaced geographically, surrounded by the wrong people or doing the wrong things, being unique will always be confused as being wrong or an outcast. It is always a waste of energy and time to try and change things the way you see them before you figure out first the prospects. One wise person among many fools might think foolishness is wisdom.
Fitting in as a result of compromise for political correctness bears a worse feeling than being misunderstood for the right reasons.
