LIMITING BELIEFS

We have all experienced limiting beliefs at some point in our lives. As children, we had big and bold dreams, but as we grew up and encountered different people and situations, we started to see our dreams as mere illusions and unattainable. These beliefs that shift our mindset are what we call limiting beliefs. Simply put, limiting beliefs are restrictive voices, thoughts, or perceptions that constrain our actions, decisions, and potential. We all have the power to control such thoughts, but most choose to compromise and allow them to control them.

Many of us struggle to achieve success in life due to limiting beliefs. These beliefs hinder our ability to discover our purpose. Additionally, identity crises are often fueled by limiting beliefs, causing uniqueness to feel abnormal and fitting in to seem normal. In general, a limiting belief is a negative voice that tells you that you don’t qualify for your pursuits, that you are not who you think you are, that you are not good enough, or that no one has succeeded in what you are attempting to pursue.

We should grasp the fact that we all have the power to create or choose the life we want, even when the odds are against us. Just because an idea is unpopular or it’s a road less traveled doesn’t mean it’s unachievable. While it might be unachievable for some, it's not impossible for you, and you won't know until you try. The truth is that we all can achieve our goals and make our dreams come true when we are in sync with our purpose. It’s often said, “It's easier to make excuses than to try.” Excuses stem from limiting beliefs in our minds, which are often rooted in past experiences, societal norms, or internalized fears and uncertainty.

We become what we think we are. This means that what we tell ourselves shapes our reality. When we think negatively about ourselves, we attract negativity from the universe, and vice versa. We can choose our internal dialogue and decide which voice to listen to. It's also important to surround ourselves with people and things that inspire us and positively support our passions.

To quiet these negative voices, we need to swap fear with faith. It's better to try and fail than never try at all due to limiting beliefs because we learn more from failing than we do from winning with certainty. Failure is a part of life that inspires winners and defeats losers
